EAT THE RICH

The phrase “Eat the Rich” may come from a speech given by Jean-Jacques Rousseau in which he apparently remarked "When the people shall have nothing more to eat, they shall eat the rich". For decades it has been adopted as a counterculture slogan. The famous words appeared in Deptford in 2006, this time with a sarcastic 2 for 1 special offer. Banksy claimed responsibility for the variant on his website a few days before the words were painted over.

My composition Eat the Rich will be premiered by the Renaissance ensemble Sonnambula in April 2017 as part of the Princeton Sound Kitchen 2016-2017 Season. See the Events page for more details.
