PELLITORY-OF-THE-WALL

A pellitory-of-the-wall is a nettle-like plant that grows on historic brickwork and derelict buildings. The plant’s name was stencilled onto the Ha’penny Hatch archways this year. As a piece of street art, the stencilling is an eloquent response to the quiet, yet persistent growth of dialogue on the wall - a gentle indication that the most disparate of voices can sound in the same space.

Scored for steel pan and recorder, Pellitory-of-the-Wall was premiered by John Burkhalter and Kendall Williams in December 2016 as part of the Princeton Sound Kitchen 2016-2017 Season. See the Events page for more details and check back soon for a video!
